These girls have been playing violin and dancing since a very young age, and they grew up performing on stages in the Pacific Northwest.
They started out with rigorous classical violin training and competetive Irish Dance, leading them to leadership positions in the local Youth Symphonies and bringing them to the Irish Dancing World Championships (held overseas in the UK) to compete in the solo championships for three years in a row.
The three sisters have also developed their talents on various other instruments including guitar, bodhran and voice in the pursuit of creating a fuller, more compelling show.
Their love for music, dance and storytelling is their inspiration for performing and recording.
The Gothard Sisters have recorded four CDs, beginning with their Christmas release in 2006 (“And to All a Good Night,”) and progressing to their most recent Celtic album “Celtic Rainbow” in July, 2009.
These days the girls can be seen making their way across the country visiting fairs and festivals to share their love of music and dancing with the people that they meet.
A live show with the Gothard Sisters is likely to include fast fiddling numbers with lively choreography, Irish step-dancing used in a myriad of ways, and special songs and ballads.
I just saw you at the Strawberry Festival today (3/3/11). We only caught the end of your 11a.am show, but we came back for the one at 3:00p.m.
All of you are amazingly talented and versatile. Keep up your classical violin studies and maybe incorporate some of that in your show. I, for one anyway, would greatly appreciate it. You’re the real deal in a show biz world filled with over hyped mediocrity. I hope to see you in a future concert where you actually have a back up band. I hope you really make it big one day. You’re definitely talented enough.
All the best,
Gary Haskins
We just had the Gothard Sister perform at the Auburn Ave Theater for our fist Annual St. Patrick’s Day Celebration and I must say my expectations were blown out of the water!
First and foremost these ladies are very down to earth but yet professional. They were very easy to work with. Greta, Willow, and Solanna put on a superb show and really drew in the audience with there singing and musicianship, but when they start to dance look out, you’re in for a treat.
If you are a presenter and have room in your schedule grab them for your performance series they will not disappoint! They are great family entertainment.
